Watercolor In A Day

Explore the basics of watercolor in this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop focused on color, layering, and brush techniques. Through guided exercises and small studies inspired by still life and reference images, students will experiment with the medium while building confidence and creativity. Perfect for both first-time painters and those looking to refresh their watercolor skills.

Pinch, Push, Pull: Handbuilding Workshop

Workshop Fee: $115

Learn hand-building through a functional project of your choice using pinching, coiling, and slab-building. Explore a variety of surfaces and finishes for your one-of-a-kind works of art! We will explore making forms like: cups, bowls, vases, and other useful objects. Ceramic work will be fired and ready to take home 6-8 weeks after the session ends. You will be contacted by a staff member when the work is ready for pickup.

Printmaking Workshop

In a single workshop, learn to carve and print your own linocut relief print! Learn how to create a drawing for linocut or transfer your image onto a block, carve a linoleum block, and print block all in one session! Printmaking paper, blocks, and ink will be provided, however, if participants want to bring their own materials to print onto, they can!

Have you always been interested in the wheel? Or are you ready to practice your techniques?! Join us for a night of learning how to use the potter's wheel from a working artist! Under their instruction, learn the basics of throwing. At the end of the night, choose two pieces to save. We will glaze the pieces for you with your preferred glaze color!

Ceramic work will be fired and ready to take home 6-8 weeks after the session ends. You will be contacted by a staff member when the work is ready for pickup Please wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting clay on! We encourage students to tie back long hair and leave precious jewelry at home.

Inktober Workshop

Copper & Brass Ring Workshop

Dive into the art of jewelry making with our hand-on class focused on making a textured wide band ring in copper or brass. You’ll learn how to stamp, texture, form and solder your very own one-of-a-kind ring. This class is open to all levels - no jewelry experience is necessary!

Fold Forming: Leaf Earrings & Pendants

Time to turn over a new leaf? Make a leaf form out of metal! This one-day workshop is for you if you are intrigued with the idea of learning to create an organic form, and are interested in gaining experience working with metal that is exciting, challenging, and rewarding. You will be introduced to basic soldering and annealing, while using copper and various hand tools.  Make earrings, a pendant, or the start of something more. Beginner or intermediate, novice or experienced, this will meet you right where you are.

Make a Ramen Bowl and Eat It Too with Kyuramen and BAC
Ages:

Take your wheelthrowing skills to the next level by creating a handmade ramen bowl set from start to finish. Designed for intermediate and advanced ceramic students, this three-day workshop begins with throwing your ramen bowl on day one. During the second session, you'll glaze your finished piece, experimenting with color and surface to make it your own. On the final day, we have partnered with Kyuramen to celebrate your work by enjoying a bowl of their delicious ramen, served in your handmade creation at BAC. This workshop is a rewarding opportunity to strengthen your throwing skills while creating a functional piece you'll enjoy for years to come.

Draw Like A Pro An A Day

Draw what you see and see what you draw! In this all-level workshop, students will learn the essentials of drawing techniques – specifically drawing from observation and reality. Using graphite to its fullest extent, students will learn simple, effective strategies for observing and drawing that can be carried into any kind of visual art.

Revamp your closet by adding your own original design! In this workshop your will learn the technique of relief printmaking and create a design you can print it on to different clothing and accessories. We provide the blocks, inks, and carving tools, and you will bring your own fabric to print on; it can be bags, shirts, bandanas, patches etc.

Learn how to craft trendy, elegant rings meant to mix and match! This workshop will provide guided instruction on how to make stackable rings. This workshop includes aspects of metalworking, such as soldering, hammering, cutting metal, filing, and polishing. All levels welcome.

Information

Private Lessons   One-on-one Lessons and Group Lessons are offered by the BAC faculty for all ages with pricing ranging between $75–$150 per hour. Click here for more information.  

Financial Aid  

The BAC believes the arts should be accessible to all! Tuition assistance (or financial aid) for full season classes, intensives, and workshops is available for all individuals and families throughout the year. Click here to be redirected to our financial aid form.

Please do not register for a class you wish to apply financial assistance for, the BAC will assist you with your registration process if your application has been accepted.

Tuition assistance requests will not be fulfilled until 1-2 weeks before the start date of the requested class.
Tuition Assistance requests can be fullfilled up to 2 weeks after the start date of the session if space permits. Until then, we ask for your patience while we work to place students in their requested classes. Scholarships for Ceramics & Jewelry are granted per individual once per fiscal year (September – August). Financial Aid does not apply to private lessons.

We are, additionally, proud to partner with the Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program – in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Nutrition Program, and the Massachusetts Health Connector to allow participants to identify the amount they can contribute towards class tuiti
